The shift from traditional farming systems toward modernization and commercialization has triggered significant changes in the local social structure. Economically, these changes are evident in increased productivity through the adoption of modern agricultural machinery (alsintan) and high-yield seed varieties, which have reshaped household income patterns. Socially, however, modernization has led to a shift in traditional values, where the long-standing communal practices of sipakatau and sipalele are increasingly replaced by contractual, wage-based labor relations. Furthermore, reliance on chemical inputs and market price fluctuations poses new challenges to farmers' welfare. The findings indicate that while there is an improvement in material living standards, there is also a growing social vulnerability as traditional cohesion fades. This study concludes that the socio-economic changes in Kaballokang Pakkabba represent an adaptive response to agricultural modernization, which demands efficiency at the expense of local cultural values
2026-04-24T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Abdul Rahman https://jurnalprofau.com/index.php/JERP/article/view/117 Traces of trading space: Bungeng port and the horse trading system in Jeneponto 1984-2023 2026-05-03T08:11:19+07:00 Selfa selfaselfa721@gmail.com Ahmadin ahmadin@unm.ac.id Rifal rifalmattirodeceng@gmail.com La Malihu lamalihu@unm.ac.id
Bungeng Port is a center of horse trading activities, which plays a vital role in connecting Jeneponto with other regions. This study aims to determine the background of horse trading in Bungeng Port, the spatial traces of horse trading development, and the impact of horse trading on the regional economy. This study uses a qualitative approach with historical methods involving heuristics, criticism, interpretation, and historiography. Data collection was conducted through observation, interviews, and documentation. The results show that the background of horse trading is influenced by natural environmental factors, food needs, transportation, land cultivation, employment opportunities, and export-import relations between regions. Jeneponto Regency, as a center of horse trading, has become a major supplier of horses because Bungeng Port functions as a connecting space for inter-island trade. The development of horse trading is also driven by the needs of the local community, and this trade has a positive impact on the economy, increasing the trade and livestock sectors, and strengthening economic relations between Jeneponto Regency and other regions.
2026-05-03T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Selfa, Ahmadin, Rifal, La Malihu https://jurnalprofau.com/index.php/JERP/article/view/119 Ide hustle di era digital: Mengubah hobi menjadi sumber cuan yang stabil 2026-05-10T01:27:53+07:00 Nurul Nisa nisaaanurul64@gmail.com Mira Atiqa mraatika111@gmail.com Herlina H. herlinalina120304@gmail.com
In the era of digital transformation, the boundaries between hobbies and economic activities have become increasingly blurred, triggering the side hustle phenomenon as a form of self-actualization and a source of income. This study aims to analyze the integration strategy between hobbies and digital technology to create a stable and sustainable income stream. Using a qualitative descriptive analysis approach, this research finds that the key to hobby-based economic stability lies in three main pillars: authentic personal branding development, product diversification, and the utilization of Artificial Intelligence (AI) for production efficiency. The discussion results show that although platform algorithms pose a challenge, the right digital tools can strengthen the resilience of micro-businesses. In conclusion, the transition from a hobbyist to a digital entrepreneur requires a balance between idealistic creativity and adaptive technological literacy
2026-05-10T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Mira Atiqa, Nurul Nisa, Herlina H. https://jurnalprofau.com/index.php/JERP/article/view/121 Why is the philosophy of space important for the vision of sustainable urban development? 2026-05-29T11:55:20+07:00 Ahmadin ahmadin@unm.ac.id
This article examines the philosophy of space in the epistemological and normative context of its relationship to sustainable urban development. This is crucial amidst the strong influence of the technocratic paradigm in the urban planning process, which tends to reduce space to a physical-economic entity and ignores the social, cultural, and political dimensions. This study uses a qualitative approach based on critical literature studies on relevant topics and theoretical analysis as conceptual legitimacy, with the unit of analysis being the conception of space as a social construction produced through power relations, representational practices, and lived space experiences. The findings of this study indicate that the use of the philosophy of space in urban development offers the opportunity to reorient spatial policies with an inclusive, participatory, and equitable vision. In this context, a reconstruction of the urban development paradigm is needed that places humans, spatial justice, and ecological sustainability as the essence of planning.
2026-05-29T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Ahmadin https://jurnalprofau.com/index.php/JERP/article/view/122 Perlindungan Hak Asasi Manusia dalam sistem ketatanegaraan Indonesia 2026-05-31T02:26:32+07:00 Andi Aco Agus andi.aco.agus@unm.ac.id
This study aims to determine the Indonesian constitutional system guarantees the protection of Human Rights (HAM), the institutions and mechanisms that play a role in protecting Human Rights (HAM) in Indonesia, and the challenges and obstacles in implementing Human Rights protection (HAM) in Indonesia. Through a qualitative approach based on literature, this article finds that anthropologists make important contributions in several aspects. First, anthropologists act as cultural researchers who are able to identify, document, and analyze local wisdom as social capital for development. Second, anthropologists function as a communication bridge between development planners (government, private sector) and local communities, so that formulated policies are truly in line with local needs and contexts. Third, anthropologists act as mediators and facilitators in resolving potential conflicts that arise from clashes between development projects and local values. Fourth, anthropologists are involved in the process of evaluating the sociocultural impacts of a development project to ensure its sustainability. Thus, the involvement of anthropologists from the planning stage to the evaluation of development is not merely complementary, but rather a necessity for realizing equitable, participatory, inclusive, and sustainable development.
2026-06-08T00:00:00+07:00 Copyright (c) 2026 Mubarak Dahlan https://jurnalprofau.com/index.php/JERP/article/view/125 Budaya indonesia sebagai identitas nasional indonesia 2026-06-10T04:38:48+07:00 Andi Aco Agus andi.aco.agus@unm.ac.id
This study aims to determine why foreign citizens are interested in Indonesian culture, how Indonesian culture has developed in the eyes of the world, and how Indonesia maintains culture as a national identity.
